Family Reunification visas:
Foreign nationals who hold a residence permit that has been valid for at least one year, have renewed a permit issued for employed or self-employed work can apply for their family members to join them in Italy.
The foreign national who resides and works in Italy will have to evidence in the application that they are able to offer suitable accommodation and provide evidence of their income availability.
Family members who are allowed to join the foreign national in Italy include a spouse, children under the age of 18, adult children who are dependant on the foreign national living in Italy, parents who are dependent on the foreign national living in Italy or parents over the age of 65.
Authorisation for family reunification will be issued within 180 days from the submission of the application. An authorisation is sent directly to Italian Consular offices of the country of origin or of residence of the family member who is still residing abroad.
As always, all documentation in support of the application must be duly translated and legalised by way of apostille by the consular authority.
The visa for family reunification is either issued or denied within 30 days as from the application. Within eight days of the arrival of your family members in Italy, they must make an application for a Permit to Stay (Permesso di Soggiorno).
