The list of English Solicitors in Italy on the GOV.UK website has been recently updated. When selecting what area of law that you require assistance in, ‘affidavits, statutory declarations and certified copies’ are no longer an option. We have contacted the British Embassy in Rome advising them of this omission on the GOV.UK website.

We have therefore received a number of enquiries from clients as to whether we still offer this service. We can confirm that we can draw up and witness these documents, where they need to be provided to a UK authority, court or bank, for example where you are required to have a document witnessed by a Solicitor or a Commissioner of Oaths.

Please note however, we cannot certify documents which are issued by UK authorities (such as a birth certificate or university degree) if that document needs to be formally produced in Italy. In that case, the UK document can only be used in Italy if it has been legalised at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in the UK.
